We have recently appointed Nicola Radford as our new Zoo Keeper and her main tasks will be feeding, cleaning and enrichment of the animals. Nicola, 26, is originally from Surrey so has relocated to Norfolk to come and work for us!
She said: “I am extremely happy to be on board here and I hope to become an important member of the team, bringing new ideas into the mix to help the zoo to continue to grow as one of Norfolk’s leading tourist attractions.”
Nicola volunteered at Chessington Zoo when she was just 16 and fell in love with the job. Before joining the team here, she gained further experience at Dartmoor Zoo after finishing her degree in Animal Science, Behaviour and Welfare at Plymouth University.
“I have been fascinated by animals from an early age. Every animal has its own character and personality and it’s so fun to get to know an animal’s mannerisms. As Jaguars are my favourite animal, I’m lucky to be working with them every day at Amazona Zoo. Our resident female Capuchin monkey has already taken a shine to me!” added Nicola.
“We are absolutely delighted to welcome Nicola to the team. We wanted to hire someone that would be the right fit for us, however, our main goal was to find a person that had a passion for working with animals. Nicola’s enthusiasm is evident and I’m sure she’s going to be a hit with the rest of the team and the animals who call Amazona Zoo home,” said Head Zoo Keeper, Imogen White.
